HOMEOPATHY FOR HORMONAL IMBALANCE
VALERIE
(Late 20’s)
MC: HORMONAL IMBALANCE DUE
TO MISCARRIAGE
• Two miscarriages
• Allergies
Pierre: Please, tell me what is troubling you?
“I had two miscarriages in the last eight months and my hormones are not returning back to normal levels. When I was 25 years old, I had a polyp on the uterus removed. I bled for three months and I wonder if it has anything to do with my problem now although I should tell you that I don’t think so since I already have a child and I didn’t have any problems with that pregnancy.”
I can’t comment on the medical part, but do ask your doctor about it. Tell me more, please.
“I have allergies as well with some pain on the bridge of my nose. It got worse when I started working as a computer operator. I quit work and my allergies got better, but up to this day my nose still itches and runs in the morning.”
OK, what else?
“I have been spotting since my last miscarriage. The flow has not completely shut down. There is substantial spotting after intercourse, which is like menstruating for one day then some pinkish stuff remains. I also have a discharge, cottage cheese type with brown discoloration. My doctor tells me my hormone levels have still not come down, they should be down because it has been six months since I’ve had the miscarriage.”
Tell me more about how you have been since the miscarriage, please.
“Ever since the miscarriage, I have been tired. I am exhausted all the time. I have tingling in my arms and legs but not in the muscles. Instead I feel some tingling in my veins as if they have been pulled. All of a sudden, I realized I have veins from the elbow and down my arms. I also have some pain around my right and left wrist right in between the bones.”
Tell me more about the pain in your veins, please.
“They feel pulled and then there is rest. They feel stretched out and I feel the aftermath of it. All the network of my veins hurts at the same time. There is a little buzzing in the veins. I want to be stretched; I want someone to pull my body out. It feels as if there are bubbles in between them. I also have the same feeling in my wrists and ankles, as if there are air bubbles. I am not sure what else I can tell you.”
Please don’t stop, it is very interesting for me.
“The feet and the hands are usually not affected. I can’t do anything. I can’t even put my son to bed. I just lie there and go to sleep myself. One of the problems is that I still feel tired after I wake up. I have been exhausted for some time now. For some reason, I feel better after I work out. Before my last miscarriage I had become a vegan but now I really feel tired throughout the day. I don’t know if it has anything to do with it all.”

Pierre: Are you feeling better?
“I am well. I don’t feel tired anymore. I always needed coffee to get me alive and awake. Now I get up at 7 a.m. and I feel great.”
That’s good. Please tell me more.
“I forgot to tell you the last time but I used to have nausea and some dizziness, both have been much better. The air bubbles are gone. My hormones levels are down. I can tell you now that I felt like I was in a deep dark place. I preferred hiding somewhere in the dark, away from people. During this past month I remembered I had this feeling of bubbles in my veins many times before, particularly after doing something strenuous.”
Isn’t it interesting how things come back to your mind when you are looking back?
“I’ve always liked to have a little bit of pain, a little soreness; I stretch and I feel the parts alive. It’s alive because I can feel the pain. That part of my body exists. I like the soreness of a little cut. Even as a child I remember liking it. The only pain I ever wanted to get rid of was labor pain. I didn’t like the whole commotion of the hospital. They were rushing in and out I could not relax. I was happy it was all over.”
DISCUSSION
The miscarriage was caused by a molar pregnancy, which is an abnormality of the placenta, caused by a genetic error during the fertilization of the egg. Molar pregnancies are rare, occurring in 1 out of every 1,000 pregnancies. There are two types of molar pregnancies, “complete ” and “partial.”
She suffered a miscarriage several months before and she is quite concerned about her hormonal levels not returning back to normal levels. Yet, she mentions her allergies. I love it. It has to do with the fact that we ask open-ended questions, which make people feel at ease to talk about anything that troubles them.
Now she is back to more important issues. It doesn’t mean that allergies are not important, but at this point they are a little secondary.
A strange, rare or peculiar symptom is always relevant in homeopathy. “Tingling in the veins” or “as if they were pulled” is such a symptom. Valerie is very expressive and she gives a beautiful, vivid description of her physical pains. The more details she gives, the more clues are brought to the fore about the remedy.
“I am not sure what else I can tell you.” Not knowing what to say is very common as I explained in Dana’s case of IBS (see case). Most people feel like they have little or no more to say, and yet I ask another question and I get a little more information which propels us forward. This is not easy – although it may appear so from these cases – but keep in mind they are edited.
She says “doing a simple task feels like a lot,” which is contradictory to “feeling better after a work out,” therefore for my purpose of finding a remedy it is interesting. Again we are looking at SRP’s.
The description of her symptoms related exactly to the experience of diver’s sickness called “the bends.” Bubbles form in the body when the body is not allowed to decompress properly from being deep under water. The remedy she needs is clear to me.
With hindsight she realized how “deep of a place” she was in. This is an interesting choice of words very much relating to the diver similarity I mentioned before.
Also with hindsight more memories are coming back to her. As her health is coming back, the retracing of the VF (Vital Force) is bringing up memories. It is a good thing because it brings more consciousness and that is always better than carrying hidden material.
The homeopathic remedy Nitrogen relates to the childbirth’s stage of the final release of the child and letting it come out. The hormones release during delivery naturally stop as the process comes to an end. In this case, because of her general state, they never stopped the release, as the body was not recognizing that the pregnancy was over.
She continues to be very well.
